Hot damn, sometimes a band just comes along and blows you away with their intensity, soul, and groove. These guys have everything all lined up, and singer Brittany Howard positively smolders with power and emotion. The band are currently in the process of negotiating for a record deal, although apparently they already have an album together and ready for release. Fair enough – whatever floats yer boat! I was pretty impressed.
I do think Grace has an amazing voice, and she’s hands down a really talented musician (did you see the cover of Cortez the Killer with Joe Satriani? sheesh!) – but I think her songwriting lets her down a bit. I was disappointed with her last record. Rock on!
I will have to check out the Satriani bit. It could change my mind. I’m now enjoying a Grace Potter Pandora Station though…

I have to disagree here. It’s much more, to me, like an amateur imitating the real raw soul singers. Maybe with some studio time and professional equipment, they might sound better.
Now, Grace Potter. There’s some talent. Like a younger Susan Tedeschi on the piano. Now, she just needs to find her Derek Trucks…
